BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- The People's Bank of China (PBOC) and the Bank of Thailand have renewed their bilateral currency swap agreement.
The new agreement, involving 70 billion yuan (about US$9.81 billion) – or 370 billion baht – was signed by PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng and Bank of Thailand Governor Setapak Suthivanarup, according to a statement published on the PBOC's website on Monday.
According to the statement, the agreement is valid for five years and can be renewed with the consent of both parties.
The PBOC stated that renewing this arrangement will deepen China-Thailand monetary and financial cooperation, promote bilateral trade and investment, and contribute to financial market stability.
