Following the historic state visit, the government will accelerate Thai-Chinese cooperation.
Following the historic state visit of Her Majesty the King and Queen to the People's Republic of China from November 13 to 17, 2025, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Anutin Chanwirakul has instructed all ministries to expedite the implementation of agreements and cooperation frameworks with the PRC.
Government Spokesperson Siripong Onkasakukiyat announced these instructions after the Prime Minister chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting. He noted that this royal visit, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, was the first official state visit by a Thai monarch to China, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized that all ministries must actively promote cooperation in various fields, including trade facilitation, product inspection, transportation connectivity, and investment promotion, to ensure maximum benefit for the nation and its people. He also instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to strengthen inspection, quarantine, and sanitary certification procedures for agricultural, livestock, and aquatic products exported to China.
The Cabinet was also informed that President Xi Jinping expressed China's intention to purchase 500,000 tons of rice from Thailand. The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to finalize delivery arrangements and has requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to ensure sufficient reserves of high-quality rice that meets Chinese safety and quality standards.
In preparation for the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders' Meeting scheduled for mid-December in Bangkok, the Thai Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments to make full preparations, including protocol and reception, to welcome the Chinese Premier's visit. He also requested that departments strengthen public communication on the Thai-Cambodian issue, emphasizing the need to clarify that the US President's confirmation that Thailand's suspension of signing the peace declaration is unrelated to the ongoing Thai-US trade tariff negotiations.
Finally, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Defense to expedite humanitarian demining operations, reiterating Thailand's commitment to fulfilling its obligations and demonstrating responsible action to the international community.
